I have so enjoyed creating The Heroes Quilt Book.
When I started 2020 I had no intention of creating a book, but with the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020 I wanted to bring people together through the power of stitch. The book is over 100 pages and shows 49 embroidered squares of people's heroes during the pandemic.
Please purchase and read the moving stories that accompany each square. Some will make you cry, some will make you smile.
A great present for inspiration for anyone who embroiders.
My Stumpwork Flower Book
The aim of this book is to help you understand how to make 3D or stumpwork motifs for your embroidery. Colour photographs and step by step instructions on how to achieve a professional finish. Full of tips and tricks that will help you create a wonderful piece and will inspire you to go on to create other pieces.
It is a small book written with the aim of you being able to take it with you on the go.
Please read the review below it was written by Chris Fraser from textile fibre thread
If you are looking for an introduction to 3D (stumpwork) flower embroidery then this little book could be just what you need. Inspirational Embroidery: Stumpwork Flower Embroidery, by Jill Kipnis, takes you through the process from design to completion. Her aim is to help you develop sound skills by focusing on one technique and using a project-based approach.
After a short introduction and description of the materials used, Jill outlines her personal design process. Recognising that many of us are not confident artists, she provides helpful suggestions for creating the flower shapes and templates (at the back of the book) for the terrified! The main part of the book is the step-by-step instructions for creating and finishing the clematis flower and leaves. These pages are lavishly illustrated with clear photographs and helpful tips and tricks. The stitch techniques section features good, easy to follow line drawings. If making the clematis flower has left you wanting to do more, there is a lovely little succulent plant project, using similar techniques, that I can’t wait to get started on.
This is a slim volume, just 30 pages each measuring 20x20cm, but it is clear, concise and to the point. If you are interested in trying stumpwork then this book would be the ideal introduction.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of the book as a gift from the author who is a friend. The review was unsolicited and the views expressed are entirely my own.
