A Goldwork Bird
The pictures show a story of a goldwork bird being designed and embroidered by one of my students and then applied onto a piece of denim that has been painted with fabric paints using a stencil.
The stencilled design using metallic paints onto denim, to create a wonderful background for the goldwork bird.
The bird being embroidered. The body of the bird was padded with felt and then gold leather was applied on top.
Applying gold check and pearl purl.
Detail showing the bird being applied onto the fabric. The wings were made separately using wire and angelina fibres. These were added separately onto the body of the bird after it was applied to the main fabric.
Close up of the finished bird and painted design.
Sequins and beads added to create texture and interest to the painted design.
The finished design mounted ready for framing.
Thank you to Helen for creating this fantastic piece
